Hispanic Heritage Month begins September 15th and we want
YOU to be a part of the celebration at Chavez! Each year, we invite
members of the Latino community to speak to our students about college and
careers in hopes our students will be inspired to follow in YOUR footsteps!
You've either indicated interest in participating this year, or participated in
this event last school year, so we wanted to update you about this year's
- Volunteers will speak on a
panel or in a small group with our 11th grade students
- Volunteers will prepare a bio
for students to read prior to the experience, so they can be prepared to
ask questions! The bio should be a brief paragraph that addresses
(some or all) the following questions:
- What is your families
- Where did you grow up?
- What High School did
you graduate from?
- What college did you
attend and what was your college major?
- What organization do
you work for? What do you do for the organization that you work for?
- Why is it important
for youth of color to go to college? How is the college experience
different for youth of color?
- What words of advice
do you want to share with students about college and careers?
