On Tuesday, July 22, 2014 various ANSO members met with a group of 22 as-risk youths from the Prince Williams County (City of Manassas and Mansassas Park) Gang Response Intervention Team (GRIT).  YN2 Maribel Benitez, LT Julio Gonzalez, Mr. Juan Torres, and Mr. Jose Velazquez, discussed how the military changed their lives.

Answering questions such as "how hard was basic training?" to "why did you go into the military?"  The youths, a mix from middle school and high school, have had at least one dealing with the police that have marked them as "at-risk" to become gang members or end up in a life of crime.

ANSO members from the DC chapter have been working with GRIT for more than 3 years and mentor more than 100 young adults from this program.

Thank you to the ANSO members that took time from their busy day to participate on this event.
