Admiral Rodriguez


 RDML William Rodríguez, USN (Ret.)

Upon graduation from The Citadel in May 1977 with a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics and    Computer Science, Rear Admiral Rodriguez was commissioned an Ensign through the NROTC Scholarship Program. He immediately reported for duty aboard USS Thomas C. Hart (FF 1092) where he was designated as a Surface Warfare Officer. In June 1980, he reported to the staff of (Tactical) Destroyer Squadron 32.









 Maj Kevin Cortés, USMC



Major Kevin S. Cortes is a native of White Plains, New York. He is a 1990 graduate of The Brunswick School in Greenwich, Connecticut. He is a 1994 graduate of Union College in Schenectady, New York earning a Bachelors of Science Degree in Applied Math and Physics. After completing Basic Officer Course Charlie Co (3-95), The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia, Major Cortes was assigned to flight school and was designated a Naval Aviator in October 1997. Follow on training as a CH-53E pilot was conducted at HMT-302 at MCAS New River, Jacksonville, North Carolina.

LCDR Arturo Pérez, USCG


LCDR Arturo Pérez is a native of Friona, TX, a small town in West Texas. After graduating high school in 1992, he attended and graduated the Naval Academy Preparatory School and later earned his BS in Management from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1997. He also has earned his Master’s of Science in Organizational Management from Eastern Connecticut State University in 2002.







NCCM José Velázquez, USN (Ret.)


On 30 September 2010, Jose A. Velazquez retired from the US Navy after 28 years of active duty. He now serves as the Coast Guard Personnel Service Center Education Services Specialist, supporting all field civilian and uniform Education Service Officers (ESO). As the technical authority for the program, he provides advice, direction, guidance and support to 48full-time and the more than 650 part-time ESOs throughout the entire agency.







 LT Julio González, USCG


LT Julio R. Gonzalez was born and raised in San Juan, PR. He enlisted in the U. S. Coast Guard via the College Student Pre-commissioning Initiative (CSPI) program in 2001. Upon graduating from basic training in July 2001, Lieutenant Gonzalez was assigned to Coast Guard Recruiting Office San Juan as an Officer Trainee to complete his bachelor’s degree at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. While attending school, he worked along side with Junior Officers assigned to Marine Safety Office, San Juan in the development of Port Security Risk Assessment for over 100 waterfront facilities and the implementation of the Maritime Safety and Security Act.








CDR Sergio Villaverde, USCGR



CDR Sergio Villaverde was born and raised in New York City, having lived in Manhattan, Queens and The Bronx. He enlisted in the United States Coast Guard reserve soon after graduation from high school in August 1986. Upon graduation from Basic Training, he was assigned as a Seaman Apprentice and USCG Reserve Unit Support Center New York on Governors Island, NY, where he qualified and served as Governors Island Police Investigator and Watch Commander (Youngest reserve Watch Commander in the unit). He later advanced to the rate of Port Securityman. In 1995, then Port Securityman Villaverde applied, and was accepted to Reserve Officer Candidate Indoctrination (ROCI). Upon successful completion of ROCI, in July 1995, he was commissioned an Ensign.


 LT Mark Torres, CHC, USN



Chaplain Mark Torres is a native of San Jose, California and is a 2000 graduate of Bethany College, Santa Cruz, California. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, New Jersey in 2003, and is endorsed for ministry by the Evangelical Covenant Church. His first civilian ministry was based in Oakland, California where from 2003 to 2006 Chaplain Torres served as Pastor of Community Outreach and Spiritual Formation at First Covenant Church.








ENS Eileen Suarez, USN


Ensign Suarez is a native of Dallas, TX. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in communication with a minor in Spanish and public relations from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. In May 2012, she received her Master of Arts degree in mass communication from Texas State University-San Marcos. ENS Suarez commissioned in the United States Navy Reserves as a Public Affairs Officer. She currently serves as a Senior Account Executive for a PR agency.




 LCDR Rodney Ríos, USCG



LCDR Rodney Rios is a native of Buena New Jersey and is a 1990 graduate of Buena Regional High School as a member of the National Honor Society. He enlisted in the Coast Guard in November of 1993 and reported to Coast Guard Station Cape May New Jersey as a Fireman Apprentice. In 1995 Rios received orders for Aviation Electrician’s Mate Class A School in Elizabeth City North Carolina where he excelled and graduated as the Class 73-96 Honor Graduate. His first assignment as an enlisted aviator was at Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod where he qualified as an HU-25 Falcon Avionicsman. After five years of exceptional performance, Rios competed for and was selected to attend Officer Candidate School.




 Maj Jeniffer Ballard, USMC



Major Ballard graduated from Greeley Central High School in Greeley, Colorado in 1993. She enlisted in the United States Navy in May 1994. After boot camp, she attended Ship’s Serviceman "A” School in Meridian, Mississippi where she was the Honor Graduate. From there she received orders to the USS Holland (AS-32), located in Guam. She attended BOOST in Newport, Rhode Island from July 1996 to June 1997. She was subsequently accepted to Marquette University College of Nursing on an NROTC Nurse Corps Scholarship.


LCDR Johnny Quezada, USN



Lieutenant Commander Johnny Quezada hails from El Paso, Texas and graduated from Bowie High School in 1984. He joined the U.S. Navy in November 1984 with his Twin PSC(SW/AW) Angel Quezada (RET) and reported to Recruit Training Command Orlando, FL. He earned his commission under the Limited Duty Officer (LDO) program and earned his Associates in Administrative Management Degree from Excelsior College in 2009.




 AETC Alan Algoso, USCG


AETC Alan Algoso is a second generation Coast Guardsman. He was born in the Philippine Islands to parents who are also from the Philippine Islands. He immigrated to the United States just before his 2nd birthday following his father’s U.S. Citizenship, which was granted while serving as a Steward in the U.S. Coast Guard. As the child of a Coast Guardsman he spent his childhood on the west coast, mostly in California and Alaska. While living in Kodiak, Alaska he joined the USCG on February 29, 1992.
